Van Fleet Trail

The General James A. Van Fleet State Trail is officially designated as part of Florida’s Statewide System of Greenways and Trails and is one of Florida’s most rural rail-trails. Visitors may travel slowly to observe the abundant wildlife along the 29.2 miles of this beautiful trail, or zip along at a brisk pace since the 12 foot wide paved surface has only one curve and few crossroads.

The Van Fleet Trail is the ideal place to observe deer, turtles, alligators, and a variety of birds and wildflowers. Landscapes include the natural environments associated with the Green Swamp, former citrus lands, and cattle ranches. For more information, please call 352-516-7384 or visit the Florida Office of Greenways & Trails site.
